Artist Bio

Frances Fernandez is a San Francisco Bay Area-based independent designer, artisan, and small business owner. Over the years, she has explored and created in various artistic mediums including ceramics, acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media collage. Her true passion, however, is jewelry design.

Her inspirations include art history, travel, fashion, architecture, and her extensive collections of vintage glass, ephemera, and found objects. She incorporates these elements with original fabricated elements, her love of color, texture, and sparkle to create Three on a Wire pieces; lovely one-of-a-kind bracelets, necklaces, and earrings that incorporate a few or several of the following: mixed metals, gemstones, natural objects such as wood, leather, and shell, custom findings, components, and pendants.

Artist Statement

One of my favorite quotes is from Henri Matisse: “Creativity takes courage.” My studio is where I experiment daily and work as a true by “hand artisan.” I also continue to be inspired by my family, my passions, and my fellow artisans and friends. I love to combine form and function, and see possibilities everywhere and in everything. Creativity takes a certain boldness and openness; it flows in my veins and is reflected here at Three on a Wire.
