Overview and Details
Using smooth artist pens filled with saturated Indian ink participants will be creating a huge drawing – all together.
You do not need any drawing skills for this project, as Sonja will instruct all in very simple pen gesture, which will accumulate and evolve into diverse patterns and pattern systems. This pen gesture helps ensure cohesiveness throughout the big piece; while at the same time there will be lots of room for experiment. Each hand, each mind works differently and will add its own personality to the piece.
Once participants declare their piece finished, collaboratively they will frame smaller compositions and literally cut it into pieces! You will leave the workshop with a vast array of smaller drawings that you can take home and frame. Additionally, Sonja will guide and give advice on smaller pieces to cut for greeting cards / holiday cards of different shapes and sizes. We will play with shapes, sizes and formats – square, round, oval, free-form… You can experiment with assembling pieces together or collaging patterns on top of each other – you can even create a pop-up card if you like. Let your ideas go wild.
