Designer Laura Buckner creates Happy Woman Jewelry with her husband Tim, using precious and semi-precious gemstones to create one-of-a-kind designs. The gemstones and pearls are handpicked from traders and friends who travel the globe.

Deep in the heart of Northern California, Laura and Tim pursue their life’s dream and passion in their solar powered home and jewelry studio surrounded by fruit trees, gardens, oak woodlands, and vineyards. They grow most of their own food, preserving their produce throughout the summer and fall months. Tim brings 30 years of experience as a Ranch and Vineyard Manager to the business and delights in creating jewelry with Laura in his own distinct style. Laura received her degree in Environmental Science from U.C. Davis in 1980 and worked in the field of Environmental Education for several years. Before becoming a full-time artist and jewelry designer, she was a Ranger Naturalist with the National Park Service at both Pt. Reyes National Seashore and Yosemite National Park. Laura has a long and varied career as an artist — printmaker, basket weaver, doll maker, spinner, weaver, and painter — and brings to her work a synthesis of all these arts, plus the stories she has gathered on this journey. For her, designing a necklace is like painting a picture: she works with an amazing palette of unique elements. She shares the joy and magic of her jewelry with people from all parts of the world.

Laura launched her Happy Woman Jewelry line in 1995, and some galleries have now carried her work for over 15 years. Happy Woman Jewelry is available throughout Northern California in galleries, museums, and gift stores. Laura and Tim are proud to support their community by donating their jewelry to non-profit organizations and schools in the region. A few of the recipients include The Cancer Resource Center-Pure Mendocino, Event of the Heart-MCAVN, National Women’s Political Caucus-Women’s History Gala, Willits Center for the Arts, and Grace Hudson Elementary School.
