I am fascinated with light; how it is reflected, attenuated, refracted and so much more. Add color and you find there are not enough words to describe the magic of light. It’s light and color that create a rich fabric of animation and magic.
In this series of oil pastels on paper, I’ve attempted to take ordinary scenes or objects and let light transform them – maybe even allowing light to be the protagonist.
My Oil Pastels on Paper paintings are made using several techniques. Most are created without brushes or tools – just the oil pastels and my fingers. By rubbing and smearing the colors on to the paper, the pieces are a combination of painting and drawing allowing me to “coax” the images out of the color. The result is having colors woven into the fiber of the paper.
