Artist Rebecca Ward challenges herself to create wearable art that uses as little silver as possible, incorporating natural materials such as sticks off the ground. Ward completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Gold and Silversmithing at the Queensland College of Art and has widely exhibited nationally and internationally.
Ward is committed to preserving the natural environment, working from her off the grid, solar powered studio in Maleny whilst ensuring the re-vegetation and maintenance of habitats for endangered Australian species. Her series Proof of concept questions the concept of adornment, and whether it is possible to live lightly and use the renewable resources at hand to satisfy the desire for adornment.
