Description:
In this talk/workshop curator and former gallerist Jasmine Moorhead will offer insights and tools to artists looking to align their art practice in a way that is more inclusive of spirit, and thus allowing ultimately for a more integrated presentation of self.
About Jasmine:
Jasmine Moorhead, who for seven years ran Krowswork gallery in Oakland (krowswork.com), found as she interacted with artists that this subject was often taboo, especially for those who were coming out of MFA programs, where formalism and rationalism were often prioritized. But for Jasmine, who holds a B.A. in Art History from Yale, she saw that what is often needed in an individual’s work is to embrace this side of creativity. Jasmine has an ongoing shamanic and meditation practice, and is also a licensed massage practitioner. For her, the spiritual path has entwined itself into the very way she approaches art, and she feels that for those who feel inclined the integration of spirit and artmaking can be personally satisfying as well as provide a much-needed richness and rebalancing to the “art world” and society at large.

Description:
Ayurvedic 5 Senses Therapy is a powerful catalyst to balance our physical and energy bodies. What we taste, smell, hear, see and touch effects our mind, body and emotions profoundly. The way we experience the world trough our senses is unique to every individual. Taste can be applied therapeutically through the 6 flavors (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent and pungent). Smell activates the part of the brain where memories and emotions are stored. Aromatherapy can have an immediate effect on balancing the mood. Making or listening to therapeutic sound such as Mantras, tuning forks and singing bowls can create a deep relaxation response in just a few minutes. Sight is the most overused sense for most of us and can lead not just to eye strain but overloading the central nervous system. Color, light frequencies and visioning can help to balance a stressed nervous system. Touch is fundamental to our well-being. A short self-massage releases endorphins, improves circulation, decreases pain and enhances the immune function. Pranayama (breathing) can create a deep relaxation response and balances mind-body and emotions.
There will be a brief introductory to Ayurvedic and Yogic energy anatomy including the Koshas (5 subtle sheaths), Chakras (energy centers), Marmas (energy points) and Prana (life force) healing. A sensory experience includes color breathing, visualization, sound, touch and aroma therapy. The tool applied can reduce stress, rejuvenate and increase Prana life-force. You will learn effective tools that balance the 5 senses, Chakras and energy body.

Description:
Inner Child work is extremely important because it gets to the root of all of our problematic adult dynamics. Creating a relationship with our Inner Child gives us access to our subconscious beliefs which run about 95% of our choices, feelings, and actions. The subconscious mind is considered to be 1000 times more powerful than the conscious mind, so our subconscious beliefs (often unknown to us) attract our life experiences to a much stronger degree than our conscious (and likely healthier) beliefs. Most learning from ages 0-7 is subconscious, and it is estimated that 97% of families have unhealthy dynamics which sets us up to create debilitating subconscious beliefs about ourselves, the world, families, and relationships. Unresolved trauma can splinter our psyche, and Inner Child work helps to integrate our psyche by healing old wounds.
About Rachel:
I am passionate about empowering people on their spiritual/healing paths. I have facilitated more than 30 healing oriented events over that past 4 years in the Berkeley area. I have been on my spiritual/healing journey for more than 10 years, and things really got “interesting” after I went to Peru 3 times for medicine ceremonies starting 4 years ago. I am making a point to share information with people that I wish I had when I first started to have mystical experiences including trances, visions, flashes of light, and telepathic communications. I have over 500 hours of energy and bodywork training (mostly at Mc Kinnon Institute, Oakland, CA), and I received counselor training through Interchange Institute (San Francisco, CA).
